Hi - I am Dee
You are
visiting this
page so I guess you are interested in getting to know a little bit about
me!
Well here goes...I am the oldest of 6 children. I have 4
younger brothers and a younger sister. My father died
of lung cancer in 2002 and my mother is currently in a
nursing home with end stage Alzheimer's disease.
I am married to a great
guy. John and I were married in 1969 and he has managed
to put up with me for all these years. We have one son,
Jamie who is married to his lovely wife Laura. We have 3
lovely grandchildren, Emily, Kate and Iain. They are the
light of my life. Our family is completed by 2 fur
babies....our orange tabby cats Zoe and her son Sam. Sam had a
sister, Salem who was a very cute appled headed tortoise cat
mainly black in color but recently we lost her to pet heaven.
She is missed very much.
We live in beautiful
Kingston, Ontario Canada.
I have many interests. I
have written poetry and short stories since my early
teens. Dee's Den was created in 2000 when I was
encouraged by friends to put my work online. I knew
nothing about the internet and website building but with a lot
of trial and error, I learned and Dee's Den became my first
website built on a free web host. Soon after I got my
own domain name and Dee's Den became Dee's Home. My interests
had outgrown the den and needed a whole home to house
them. :) I now host more than 6 websites for a
variety of personal and business applications.
When I first built my website I
used graphics that were readily available on the
internet..nice boxy square pictures with no real character .I
soon grew dissatisfied with that and wanted to create my own
graphics. I learned both 2D and 3D art with Paint Shop
Pro and Daz programs. I now use some of my original
creations plus adaptations of other artists (with their
permission). (If you find that I have inadvertently used
something that is copyrighted to you please let me know and I
will at your discretion either give you credit for the item or
remove it from my website)
When I am not on my computer at
home....I am employed as office manager for a brilliant world renowned
doctor who treats people through the use of
hypnotherapy. I also manage his website and the online publishing business that
is the source for ordering the books he has written, Junica
Publishing. While learning about the world of print
on demand publishing, I got the idea and urge to publish
some of my children's stories as books. It would mean a
lot of graphic work. Although I could do a lot of it...I
had an online friend whose art I had admired for many
years. Her name is Jan Jensen and she lives in
Florida. Jan and I had worked on many online projects
together over the years. She agreed to help me with the
art for my books and together we formed our company "The
Toybox Grannies"
I am one of the founding
members of one of the greatest websites competitions on the
web. "Heart-N-Soul."
If you would like to join a web comp where you are not just a
member but part of the "family" then Heart-N-Soul is
the one for you.
I love to cook, and read (Nora
Roberts, James Patterson, Sandra Brown) when not at my
computer and as an all round stress reducer I like to occasionally
visit our local casino to play a few slots or Texas Hold'Em
Poker.
Well that is about it. I
have been blessed with a great family and very full and
rewarding life. I am blessed too by you, the friends and
potential friends that come to visit me here at my home
in cyberspace. I am glad that you took this time out of
your busy day to visit me. I hope that you have enjoyed
your stay.
Hugs, Dee

OUR WEDDING
The church was full of flowers
Soft music filled the air
The families were assembled
and all our friends were there.
You stood waiting handsomely
at the end of a long red aisle
Even from that distance
I could see your nervous smile
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
Daddy held me by my arm
My knees they trembled so.
The organ began to play the march
Daddy whispered "Its time to go"
All eyes were upon me
as I inched my way to you
The Padre placed my hand in yours
It was time to say "I do"
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
The preacher asked who gives this bride
Daddy replied "her Mother and I"
I stole a glance at Momma
And she began to cry.
The flowers trembled in my hand
As I pledged my troth to you.
Soon, you were slipping on the ring
and saying a solemn "I do"
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
The bells began to peal out loud
as he pronounced us man and wife.
You pulled me close and kissed me
Now I belong with you for life
The sun shone brightly as we left the church,
confetti rained like snow
Your Mother kissed me on the cheek
Mine hugged and would not let go
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
My Father brushed back a hasty tear
So I wouldn't see him cry.
Our friends gathered round to wish us well
Said you were a lucky guy
They held a party in our honor
with pink champagne and cake
The girls all scramble to catch the bouquet
The guys for the garter you take.
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
Now the evening grows late, its been a long day
So we say our final goodbye.
I kiss my parents and hug your Mom
and try very hard not to cry.
At last all alone in an old country inn
I shower you with my kisses
And as you gently lower me to the bed
I'm so happy that I am your Mrs.
